    Happy 15th Anniversary Neocron!

    15 years ago on September 9th Neocron hit retail in Germany. The US would follow up on November 12th.

    Neocron holds a special place in all of our hearts and we continue to work towards a release of this classic version of Neocron.

    This trailer is exactly how I remember Neocron. I saw this trailer before retail or somewhere before beta and the biggest thing to me has always been (more so when I was younger) the grand scale of the city, getting lost through endless streets, purchasing gear and leveling up.

    Looking back, I can dream every single Neocron sector and getting lost would be difficult; but the nostalgia is real.

    In that trailer, the first time you go first person at 03:00 - together with the music - gives you this epic and grand feeling.

    Let me use the opportunity to again point out to the devs the importance of fixing the "You:" prefix when typing into chat, much like it was in the original game as you can see at the same time stamp.

    At some point KK reKKt it and never fixed it.

    Here's hoping for as many fixes as possible (including the player models and animations) to go back to NC1 (as much as possible) and I'll trip on Neocron Classic for at least another 5 years.

    Here's an o7 to the current dev team - May you restore Neocron to it's former glory!

    It's hard to believe it's already been 15 years since Neocron 1 hit the "Retail Market", having to screw around with PayByCash, etc.

    My best moments in Neocron 1:
    • Seeing my first Warbot and freaking out.
    • First "ride" to the Military Base.
    • Having my first vehicle built (not store bought).
    • Having my first PA built (not store bought).
    • Joining my first clan (I don't remember the name, but iNsAnE was the leader (Saturn)).


    Still, this doesn't begin to describe the endless hours of staying up all night, skipping school to play Neocron. Neocron 1 will _ALWAYS_ have a place in my heart, and as a member of this development team I will try my hardest to make those memories possible for everyone else.

    It would be awesome to find some crusty old CDV/KK Dev that has NC1 Source ready to hand over to us.

    Theres probably an obvious answer, but why didn't you start with the NC1 beta source then build upon that, rather than taking NC2 source and trying to make it feel like NC1?

    The NC1 Beta source was built with DX9 support. We had no assets for this source and would have to do about 10x the work.

    We started with a 2.1 base so that we still had VERY close to the same mechanics of NC1 without the changes NC 2.2 brought (3 shields vs 2 for monks, various other changes)

    The NC 2.1 base made total sense in terms of being able to import the NC1 PL200 resources and still have a playable base to start out with...

    If we started with NC1 Beta, we wouldn't even have a server up yet I'm guessing.
